Why Read the Bible Daily?
2 Timothy 3:16-17…
In the Holy Scriptures, God has provided us a guide to walk through our daily lives:
All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work. –2 Timothy 3:16-17, NAB
We should read the Bible daily. Period. It doesn’t matter how much or how little, at first, just read it. The power of the Scriptures, inspired by God, will slowly begin to change your life in ways that you never expected.
The Bible is more than just a historical record of the Church and the Jewish people. It is filled with moral teachings and stories that set an example for us. Summing up today’s verse, God’s inspired Word can change and prepare us for life as a Christian.
I believe in the power of the Scriptures so much, that I spend a great deal of time writing the Daily Bible Verses. I have committed to it because it helps you to get into habit of reading the Bible daily, and for me, it forces me to read, focus, and reflect on Scripture daily. In the end, it pays off for both of us.
To help you with this, I have tried to provide a number of tools. The verses post daily on the website, Facebook, and Twitter. You can subscribe to them in an RSS feed (if you know what that is), or you can have them emailed to your inbox. Even with all of these sources, I still search for new ways to bring you closer to the Bible.
I hope that you will find the time to read the Bible daily, whether it is through this site or on your own. Reading Scripture should be an important part of our spiritual life, just like prayer and the Sacraments. Make Scripture a priority in your life, and let the power of its words change you forever.
