Tomorrow, I celebrate my first wedding anniversary, and for that, I am very thankful:
He who finds a wife finds happiness; it is a favor he receives from the LORD. -Proverbs 18:22, NAB
After looking back at my first year of marriage, no verse could sum it up greater than this. It encompasses both how truly happy I am and how blessed I feel to call her my wife.
No marriage is without its share of fights or disagreements, but our marriage has seen many more good times than bad. We have quickly learned how to work together through any difficulty we may face, and we can seemingly overcome any challenge.
Some will say that the first year is the hardest, and if that is true, then the rest of our marriage should be a breeze. I cannot imagine being any happier than I am today.
Truly, I feel blessed to be celebrating my anniversary with her, and not just because I am overlooking the beautiful waters in Puerto Vallarta as I write this on our second honeymoon. But because I know that I have a partner for the rest of my life – someone who loves me, believes in me, and supports me in everything I do.
Supposedly, the honeymoon stage will eventually wear off, but true love will last forever. I believe, down in the deepest reaches of my heart, that God has blessed me with exactly that.
Happy Anniversary, sweetie! I look forward to the months, years, and decades that we will spend together. I love you.
