As witnesses of Christ’s love, we proclaim a very bold message:
But I have written to you rather boldly in some respects to remind you, because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in performing the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering up of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the holy Spirit. -Romans 15:15-16, NAB
Like St. Paul, we must not be afraid to be bold in our witness. We must be unafraid to tell the world of God’s mercy. When we share the love of Christ, we must leave nothing out. If people only see a portion of what Christ has done in our lives, then the impact will be much less. However, by truly giving our full, bold witness, we can really begin to make a difference.
Another way of boldly sharing Christ’s message is that we must stay true to the message, regardless of what society may say about it. Truly, our beliefs can be somewhat counter-cultural, and many will reject us for our beliefs. Some will say that we are too old-fashioned and out-of-touch with today’s world, but that is not the case at all. Instead, we are the ones who have stuck to the same message for 2000 years, without waivering, and there is something really special about that.
I am honored that God allows me to give my witness in such a bold way. He has given me the gifts I need, from written word to computer code. And, it is not a credit to my abilities, but a credit to the One who created me. God gave me these gifts for a reason; I am simply using them to the best of my ability.
Are you a bold witness for Christ? Are you unafraid to be honest with the world around you? Are you using the unique talents and gifts that God gave you to further the Kingdom? What ways can you be a better witness of Christ’s love to the world?
Like St. Paul, we can all be bold witnesses to the wonderful message of the cross. May we all further God’s Kingdom, without fear, by sharing the true message of Christ’s Resurrection.
