Rebuild the Church
It is time to restore the Church in the Western world:
See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy according to human tradition, according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to Christ. -Colossians 2:8, NAB
The modern world is falling farther and farther away from the Church, and by falling away from the Church, the world is falling away from God, as well. It’s time that we begin to rebuild the Church in the name of Christ.
If we decide to build or rebuild a home, we need to plan for the people and resources needed to make it happen. We would draw out a blueprint, coordinate with different builders and construction teams, acquire the right tools, and decide when to break ground.
Applying these same ideas in our goal to rebuild the Church, the blueprint is easy. We need look no further than the Bible and Catechism. Together, they give us the instructions needed, from the foundation to the highest peak.
Putting together a team of builders is becoming more and more difficult. The amount of work continues to increase while the number of workers continues to decrease. We can overcome that by working together, learning to work more efficiently, and giving more of our time for the project.
Home-building tools can be quite expensive, but luckily, we can get all of the tools we need to rebuild the Church for free. The Holy Spirit freely offers us the gifts we need to accomplish the task. Through our Baptism and Confirmation, He bestows these gifts upon every one of us.
So when will we break ground? When should we begin to rebuild the Church? The time is now! There is no reason to wait. Many have been waiting for a miraculous sign in the sky to get moving. This is your sign. This is your call from God. He wants us to begin this project immediately.
In some parts of the world, the Church is continuing to grow and thrive. In the West, however, things are a bit different. But it’s never too late. Let’s begin to rebuild the Church with the Bible and Catechism as our blueprint, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit as the tools of the trade.
