Our Wedding Day

A Very Special Day…

May our love always be strengthened through prayer together:

“Tobiah arose from bed and said to his wife, ‘My love, get up. Let us pray and beg our Lord to have mercy on us and to grant us deliverance.’ She got up, and they started to pray and beg that deliverance might be theirs. He began with these words: ‘Blessed are you, O God of our fathers; praised be your name forever and ever. Let the heavens and all your creation praise you forever. You made Adam and you gave him his wife Eve to be his help and support; and from these two the human race descended. You said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; let us make him a partner like himself.” Now, Lord, you know that I take this wife of mine not because of lust, but for a noble purpose. Call down your mercy on me and on her, and allow us to live together to a happy old age.’ They said together, ‘Amen, amen.'” -Tobit 8:4-8, NAB

Today’s verse comes from one of the chosen readings for my marriage ceremony today.  Yes, today, I am blessed to marry the woman who completes me in every way.  The journey to this moment has been filled with many blessings, and many obstacles, and I look forward to where this journey will continue to lead us.

May the prayers of Tobiah and his wife be echoed in our life today.  Just as Tobiah prayed so long ago, I offer prayers of thanksgiving for the partner that He has given me.  I ask that God always strengthens me to remember the true inner beauty of my wife and to never take it for granted.  Finally, I pray that the Lord allows us to live a long, happy life together.

My hope is that prayer will remain the cornerstone of our faith and our life together as man and wife.  Prayer by one person alone can be powerful, so the prayers of a couple devoted to God are that much stronger.  And, as our family grows, may we continue that life of prayer with our children and our children’s children.

Finally, to Mari, my beautiful wife, I am so thankful that God has brought you into my life.  In just a few short hours, I will be standing at the altar watching you walk down the aisle, and tears already fill my eyes thinking about it.  We have worked so hard and been through so much to get here, but I believe that every moment was worth it.  Our love was tested by fire, and it only grew stronger and more refined because of it.  Thank you for being the woman that you are and for all of the love that you continually show me.  I promise to love you, lead you, and be there for you throughout all the days of our lives.  I love you.

Please, keep us in your prayers.  Thank you.
