Every End Leads to a New Beginning….
Today is a new beginning:
Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not; See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? -Isaiah 43:18-19, NAB
Earlier this week, I dropped a bombshell on everyone when I said these Daily Bible Verses would go to Weekly Bible Verses. Since then, I have received a number of great letters and words or encouragement, so I want to thank everyone who wrote me.
This week is also one of the final weeks of Ordinary Time. Next week, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe – the final Sunday in Ordinary Time – which means the following Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent.
So as I look at both of these situations, I see how the end of one era leads directly into another. We end Ordinary Time and immediately move into Lent. I take a step back from writing, and I hope a new beginning will be on the horizon for this ministry, as well. In fact, this new beginning may have already begun.
On Friday, I gave my first official talk as a Catholic speaker. This was one of my primary goals of this ministry in the first place. I had always hoped to share my story with anyone willing to listen, and my own parish was the first to give me the opportunity.
I was nervous, scared, and worried that I might stumble over my words, but thanks to the help of the Holy Spirit, all went well. I enjoyed sharing my personal story with family, friends, fellow parishioners, and fans I’ve met from the Internet. It was such a blessing to receive such strong support.
My goal is to take the audio from that night and find a way to distribute it to you. I want everyone who could not attend to have a chance to hear and share the experience. And for anyone who would like me to come by their parish, click here for more information.
I’m not exactly sure what’s in store for this ministry in the coming months (and years), but I’m determined to sit back and follow where God leads me. Again, thank you for understanding this difficult decision. My wife, family, and I appreciate the love and support you have always shown us. Thank you.
