Never Stop Praying
1 Thessalonians 5:17…
In one of the shortest, yet most poignant, verses in the Bible, we are told to never stop praying:
Pray without ceasing. -1 Thessalonians 5:17, NAB
Prayer is critical to our relationship with God. It is how we communicate with Him. Through prayer, we can lay on Him our hopes and fears, our successes and failures, our joys and sorrows. It is one of the most important ways that we open our hearts to the Lord.
Through faith, we develop a bond with our Creator and our Savior. Like any relationship, that bond is strengthened as we spend more time with Him. The more we pray, the stronger our relationship will be. For that reason, we should never stop praying.
If we fail to communicate with our spouse, our marriage will begin to struggle. If we do not talk to our kids, they will eventually go astray. If we never call our friends, those bonds will begin to fade. Maintaining our relationships requires communication to thrive.
At times, we may feel that our friends, our family, and our loved ones are tired of us. Some relationships are better in small doses. But this is a human weakness. This is not true with our Lord. He loves to hear froms us. We can never pray too much.
Never stop praying. Never stop thanking the Father for the gift of life. Never stop seeking forgiveness from our Savior. Never stop inviting the Holy Spirit into your heart. As Scripture tells us, “Pray without ceasing,” – it is one of the most important things you will ever do.
