Never Give Up
1 Corinthians 15:58…
When the work of the Lord seems more than we can handle, it can be a challenge to never give up:
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be firm, steadfast, always fully devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. -1 Corinthians 15:58, NAB
The work we do for the Lord – whatever it may be – can be challenging, exhausting, and push us to our limits. At one point or another, we will all be pushed to our limits. We may begin wondering if it is time to give up.
If you have ever felt this way, realize that you are not alone.
I am tired. Most of you who read these verses regularly know that I recently had a baby, and let’s just say, I’m exhausted! Add that to my day job, the work I do for this site (and others), and my graduate studies, and I’ve often wondered if I am doing too much.
It can be tough to balance multiple things at once. While I love what I do, I never want it to interfere with my marriage or my relationship with my kids. It’s important to always keep our priorities straight. When I begin to get tired, I face the same doubts and fears that you have faced.
Thankfully, we have our Lord who gives us strength to pull through. We can push on knowing that our hard work will not be in vain. We can trust that the work we do for Him is surely being noticed.
There are times that we may begin to forget this, and this is why it is important for us to surround ourselves with positive, faith-filled people. The Lord knows that I would not be where I am today without the constant encouragement of my wife. She challenges me and constantly reminds me why I’m doing all of this.
Ordinarily, most of my posts are meant to encourage and teach you what you can do, but today, I wanted to get a little more personal. I wanted to encourage you through my own struggles. You are never alone.
Never give up. The work you do on behalf of the Lord will never be in vain. When you become tired and weary, turn to the Lord to give you strength, and He will help you complete the work He has given you to do.
