A Personal Relationship…

Are you willing to fully let Christ into your life?

While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him. Some scribes who were Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors and said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” -Mark 2:15-16, NAB

In Mark 2:13-14, we learned that Jesus welcomes sinners to follow Him, regardless of how bad we think our sins may be.  The message from Mark 2:15-16 buids upon that.  We learn that Christ wants to build a personal relationship with sinners.

It was not enough for Jesus to simply tell sinners to follow Him – He wanted to know them on a more personal level.  Almost 2000 years later, nothing has changed.  Christ asks us to follow Him, but it does not end there.  He still wants to develop that personal relationship with us.

Jesus wants to sit and have dinner with us.  He wants to spend time talking with us at the table.  Whether it is a breakfast at the local diner, or at home eating dinner around the family table, Christ wants to be there with us.  He wants that personal, intimate relationship.

Our faith does not stop developing when we choose to follow Christ.  The next step is to let Him into every part of our lives.  From a quick prayer before dinner to the most heartfelt prayers in times of crisis, Jesus wants to be a part of our lives.  That is how we develop our faith in a meaningful way.

Let Jesus into your life.  As a sinner, you have chosen to follow Him, and now, He wants to build a relationship with you.  Are you willing to let Him in?  Will you open your heart to our Lord?  This is the next step in our journey of faith, and sometimes, the most difficult.
