Are You Excited?…
Jesus continues His conversation with the leper that He healed in Mark 1:40-43:
Then he said to him, “See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.” The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere. -Mark 1:44-45, NAB
Christ has changed the course of this man’s life forever. Instead of being a social outcast, the leper can take his place back in society. As someone who was unclean, he had to take his place outside of society, but now, after being cleansed by Christ, he can go back to the high priests and regain his life.
This was a life-changing moment for the leper, and, despite being told not to by Jesus, he ran off to tell everyone what had happened. He was so excited about his new life that he could not keep it to himself. When Christ comes into our life and completely turns it upside down, do we run and tell everyone we know?
I love being a Catholic Christian. I love sharing my faith with everyone who will listen. First, letting Jesus into my life was truly a life-altering experience. Then, when I found the beauty of Catholicism, my faith went to an even deeper level – a level I never would have imagined.
My hope is that you are doing the same. I’m not saying that you have to stand on a podium in front of large crowds. I’m not saying that you have to start a website or write a book. Truly, all I’m saying is that we should be excited enough about our faith to at least share it with those around us. In other words, don’t keep it a secret.
Through the healing of our bodies and souls, Christ changes us. Becoming a Christian changes the course of our lives forever. Let’s share the beauty and magic of our transformed life with the world around us.
