Good from Evil…
Some thought they could stop the Truth by arresting John the Baptist:
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” -Mark 1:14-15, NAB
Fearful men tried to stop John the Baptist, but, in reality, they simply sparked what Jesus called “the time of fulfillment.” God, in His infinite power and wisdom, uses the iniquities of man to bring about good, and He used John’s imprisonment as the spark to light a mighty fire.
It was time. For thirty years, Jesus lived a pretty ordinary life. His family was a normal, working class family, and His earthly father, Joseph, was teaching Him the family business – carpentry. But, all of that was about to change. It was time for Jesus to leave behind His normal life and begin His true purpose – teaching the Gospel of God.
Time and time again, God shows how He can use the evil acts of men for good. From John the Baptist being arrested to Christ’s crucifixion, God used these vile acts to further His Kingdom. The world may be against the will of God, but that will not stop Him.
There are times when we will see this in our own lives. From relationships that fall apart, to loved ones that pass, to financial calamities, God will use some of the darkest moments in our lives to bring light. Sometimes, it is only in the darkness of these times that we even see the light.
During your darkest times, when evil seems to be against you, can you see the hand of God working in your life? He was there when John the Baptist was arrested. He was there at Christ’s crucifixion. And, He will be there in the darkness when you need Him the most.
