Do Not Complain….

We need to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing:

Do not complain, brothers, about one another, that you may not be judged. Behold, the Judge is standing before the gates. -James 5:9, NAB

Jesus famously tells us in Matthew 7:

“Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye (Matthew 7:3)?”

Despite this message, we still complain and worry about what others are doing.  We judge others when we have no place to judge, and in doing so, are leading ourselves to harsher judgment.

We gossip about the mistakes of others.  We stand in back of the pews criticizing the actions of our fellow Catholics.  We take it upon ourselves to be the judge and jury of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

But we do not need to fill this role.

God sees the mistakes that others are making.  He does not need us to point them out to Him.  It is not our place to worry about it.  Instead, we need to be more focused on our own sinful existence.  We have a hard time cleaning up our own mistakes without worrying about the mess of others.

Do not complain or worry about the mistakes of your fellow Catholics.  Fixing your own life is enough to worry about.
