The Living Word of God…
The Word of God is powerful enough to penetrate the deepest reaches of our souls:
Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12, NAB
The living Word manifests itself in various ways. We experience the Word of God as it is written down in Sacred Scripture, in the form of our beautiful Sacred Tradition, in the life of Jesus Christ on earth (John 1), and through the Holy Spirit, who continues to bring us the Word today.
Because the Word takes on so many forms, it can weave itself into the very fabric of our lives. Scripture can provide words of comfort and strength. The Tradition is there to guide us throughout our lives. We can turn to Jesus Christ when we are in need of our Savior. And the Holy Spirit brings the real presence of God into our hearts.
Of course, my simplified definitions of the Word of God do not even begin to describe it. Entire volumes of religious works have tried to describe the vast beauty of our Lord but fail to come close.
We may not be able to define the living Word of God in 300 words or less, but we can feel God present in our lives through His Word in tangible ways. When we accept Christ into our hearts, we will begin to see the work of the Holy Spirit impacting us.
Open your heart and soul to the living Word of God, and allow it to guide and transform your life. Having a little faith and trust can change your life in very impactful ways.
