Encourage One Another Daily…
Each new day presents its own struggles, so we are called to encourage one another daily:
Encourage yourselves daily while it is still “today,” so that none of you may grow hardened by the deceit of sin. -Hebrews 3:13, NAB
It does not take long for our lives to go off track; therefore, we, as Christians, must continually look after one another, each and every day. The moment we stop is the moment that we open the door for sin to enter our lives.
Living the Christian life is not easy. While the world seems to do as it pleases, we are called to live to a higher moral standard. Over time, this burden can weigh on us, discourage us, and cause us to begin following the ways of the world again.
Thankfully, we are not alone in this journey. This is exactly why fellowship is so important. When we surround ourselves with like-minded Christians, they will lift us up when we need it the most. As life begins to overwhelm us, they will offer an encouraging word, shoulder to cry on, and a kick in the pants to keep moving forward.
For the first few years of my Christian life, I did not realize any of this. I thought faith was a personal matter. I did not belong to a church or denomination. I didn’t talk with other Christians. It was just me and my Bible. Unfortunately, though, times got tough, and it was difficult to hold fast to my faith. I could not do it alone.
For awhile, I attended various churches, but I could not find a church or denomination to call home. Consequently, my faith continued to waiver. Years later, after becoming Catholic, I have finally found the community of belivers that holds firm to our moral standards and continually offers words of encouragement.
Each day presents new challenges, so we must continually encourage one another to follow the right path. No one ever said that we had to take this journey alone.
