Love and Good Works…
One of our primary tasks as Catholics is to inspire others:
We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works. -Hebrews 10:24 NAB
How can we inspire others, the entire world around us, to live a life centered on Christ? How do we convince them to follow the same path we are on? The answer is simple in theory but difficult in execution.
If we want to “rouse one another to love and good works” as the author of Hebrews suggests, then we need to show love and good works. Our words, our actions, the essence of our being should constantly radiate love and good works on the people around us.
People will follow our example. They will see the love that we show to others and the impact it has on our lives, and they will want to do the same. In theory, anyway.
That is why our faith needs to be a 24-7 part of our lives. People will see our love and good works, but they will also see our failings. Often times, they will notice how much we fall short more than the positive impact of our lives in other areas. We definitely live in a society that sees the glass as half empty.
Every moment of every day, we are given the chance to show others love and good works. Inspire the world around you by showing the true impact of Christ on your life. To help the world center itself on Christ, we need to center ourselves on Him first.
