Hebrews 1:7-9

Everlasting Kingdom…

Christ is the anointed King that will rule forever:

Of the angels he says: “He makes his angels winds and his ministers a fiery flame”; but of the Son: “Your throne, O God, stands forever and ever; and a righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom. You loved justice and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions.” -Hebrews 1:7-9, NAB

The great preachers and teachers of the world will come and go.  Eventually, like a flame that burns brightly for a moment, it will not last forever.  The angels, who come in like the wind, will not stay either.  They are sent by God with a given mission, and when their mission is complete, they return to the place they came from.

The work of man and angels will not last forever, but Christ will forever rule in His kingdom.  We often think of Christ’s time as a moment in history 2,000 years ago; however, He continues to be with us today..

The moral of the story is that our faith does not belong with the great preachers and prophets of the world, but with Christ.  You may be inspired by a particular priest, bishop, writer, or speaker, but only Christ deserves our devotion.

When Christ came, He gave a message to the world.  Today’s preachers are only relaying that message.  In other words, our great teachers are not creating their own ideas; they are continuing to spread Christ’s everlasting Kingdom with the world.

Do not put your faith in preachers, teachers, and prophets with lively messages, but in Christ and His everlasting Kingdom.
