Faith Produces Perseverance
Faith can help us persevere in times of stress:
Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. -James 1:2-4, NAB
At one point or another in our lives, we will all face trials. It is a certainty. Stress will overcome us, and we may find it difficult just to make it through the day. Relax. You are not alone. The Lord will be with you when you need Him the most.
Life will present its share of difficulties. We go through highs and lows, and the lows can bring downright misery. I have experienced these lows in my life and have had to crawl my way back to normal again. At times like these, we must lean on faith to persevere.
Not every trial comes from pain, struggle, and difficult situations either. Sometimes, having too many good things going on can be a struggle in itself. I can personally attest to this. When there is more to do than time in a day, life can become overwhelming.
Honestly, in my own life, there are times when I become overburdened with too many tasks to accomplish. Most of them are very positive, and I am thankful for my blessings; however, knowing that does not make it any less stressful.
In some respects, I find it easier to overcome stressful times caused by difficult situations: I am prepared to endure. Enduring during the good times almost seems like an oxymoron, and we are often not prepared for it.
No matter what may be overwhelming you, lean on faith to persevere. Testing your faith in this way is like trying to build muscle at the gym: you have to endure a little pain to receive any gain. Enduring trials and tests may be difficult at the time, but the strength of faith that comes from them can last a lifetime.
Faith produces perseverance, and perseverance strengthens our faith. Together, they can take your life beyond the ordinary and help you reach something quite extraordinary.
