Conclusion of Ephesians…
Today, we conclude our studies on the book of Ephesians:
Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in immortality. -Ephesians 6:23-24, NAB
The final words from St. Paul to the Ephesians sum up the basis of this entire book: that we know and understand the relationship between the Father and Son, as well as how that applies to our lives.
While many of St. Paul’s letters focus on various doctrines, this book has been about relationships. The relationship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The relationship between God and His Church. Even the relationships we have with each other.
To sum up the entirety of Ephesians, St. Paul was giving the Church guidelines on how we should exist as a communion of saints. More than a set of rules to follow, he discussed the various aspects of our faith in ways that we can actually apply to daily living.
All of this centers on, and flows from, our relationship with Christ – the reason and purpose for our faith. Through our faith in Him, we receive the graces needed to form one Church together and to survive the spiritual battles of the world.
As we reach the conclusion of Ephesians, I hope that you have learned more about the beauty of the Church, and I hope that our next study will be just as fruitful. Stay tuned to find out what we will be covering next!
