Emmanuel – God is with Us
You are Never Alone…
When the troubles of life begin to pile up against you, remember that you are never alone – God is with us:
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means “God is with us.” -Matthew 1:23, NAB
The holiday season can bring as much sadness as it does joy. It is a stressful time for many people. Worries about finances, disputes among family members, and broken relationships can become overwhelming. In the midst of all this stress, we may be left feeling alone.
Have you ever felt this way? Do you feel this way now?
If you are feeling alone this holiday season, remember that you have a God who loves you. He loved you enough to send His Son to be with you. That is what this season is all about. It’s not about egg nog, mistletoe, and thousands of dollars worth of wrapped presents; it’s about a God who came to save you.
Don’t get me wrong. I love celebrating the holidays. I truly enjoy singing along to Christmas music on the radio (even if no one else likes to hear me sing). I love the brightly decorated homes, Christmas cookies, and the joy of seeing a child waking up on Christmas morning, but what means even more to me is celebrating the birth of our Lord – because I know that God truly loves me.
I have felt alone, at times. I know how painful it can be to simply “go through the motions” during the holidays. Those feelings will not last. Life can turn around, and you may end up surrounded by more love than you could ever imagine. As you endure through those difficult times, however, just remember that you are never alone with God in your life.
Emmanuel – God is with us. God sent His Son to live among us, and when He left, He sent the Holy Spirit to be with us always. During this holiday season, realize that you are never alone. You have a Father who lovingly created you, a Savior who gave His life for you, and an Advocate that will strengthen you all the days of your life.
