1 Peter 2:25
Like a Good Shepherd, Christ always seeks His lost sheep:
“For you had gone astray like sheep, but you have now returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.” -1 Peter 2:25, NAB
Our lives will pull is in many directions. We will find ourselves tempted and drawn away from our faith by our career, status, power, and money. Lust will pull us away from the only True Love. While we know that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, we will wander off from the flock. Rest assured, the Lord will always seek to bring you home.
Similarly, in Luke’s Gospel, Jesus tells us this parable:
“So to them he (Jesus) addressed this parable. ‘What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, “Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.”‘” -Luke 15:3-6, NAB
No matter how far you stray, the Lord wants to bring you home. No matter what sins you have committed, the Lord will seek you. Each and every one of God’s children is important to Him, and He desperately wants us all to come back to Him.
Have you gone astray? Do you feel separated from the Lord? Are you trying to find your way home? The Lord desperately wants you to come home. He has been tirelessly searching for you – even when you were not searching for Him. You may have wandered far, but He would travel to the ends of the earth to bring you home.
