Love Never Fails…

What can love overcome?  Anything:

“It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”  -1 Corinthians 13:7-8, NAB

It may sound cliche, but we can do anything with love in our hearts.  Love will carry us through the tough times.  Love will give us a reason to celebrate during the good times.  Love is everything that we could ever hope for.  As Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13, “love never fails.”

We may often try to find happiness in a number of different ways.  We may seek happiness through money, power, or lust, but we will never find it.  Happiness truly comes from love.  Not the love of objects or things, but the pure love that flows from Christ.  Only through this pure love will we truly find peace and contentment.  It is this same love that we are called to share with the world.

As Catholics and Christians, we may try to lean on our spiritual gifts to share Christ with the world, but our gifts will only take us so far:

“If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we know partially and we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.” -1 Corinthians 13:8-9, NAB

No matter what our spiritual gifts may be, they pale in comparison to the power of love.  Our gifts are important to share with the world, but not as important as love.  In fact, our love should be shown through our gifts.  Together, love gives our gifts a power and strength that they would not have on their own.

Turn your life to the unfailing power of love.  Through love, you will find a peace and happiness that you cannot find anywhere else.  Then, we must share this love with the world, through our spiritual gifts.  Love is a word that we often use casually, but the true power of love has the ability to move mountains.
