1 Corinthians 1:25
Turning to His Wisdom and Strength
In 1 Corinthians 1:25, Paul’s letter to the Corinthians continues by describing the vast difference between God’s wisdom and ours:
“For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” -1 Corinthians 1:25, NAB
The verse from 1 Corinthians 1:21 taught us that our wisdom will surely not save us, and that we should not rely on our wisdom to receive God’s mercy. This verse tells us why. Paul describes how God’s wisdom and strength are far beyond ours. In His weakest possible moment, God remains stronger and wiser than we could ever imagine. Yet somehow, we choose to rely on our own understanding instead of His all-knowing wisdom. Somehow, we choose to turn to our own strength instead of His unfailing strength. Eventually, this will lead us to failure, pain, and sorrow, and it is at that moment that we must turn back to Him. When things are going well in our lives, many find it easy to praise Jesus for the blessings in their life, but, with the smallest adversity, they try to rely on their own understanding. God uses the trials of our lives to break us of this bad habit and bring us back to Him. In our times of trouble, we must let go of all we know and all we think we can do, and we must look to the wisdom and strength of our God to show us the way and guard us on our journey.
NOTE: Truly, I say to you that what you read here on this website comes from the Spirit and not myself. All honor and glory belong to God. By no means do I consider myself a gifted speaker, writer, or theologian. Only with the gifts that He has given me can I pull any of this off. And now, as promised, the Weekly Bible Readings will become Daily Bible Readings. Each week, there will be short daily readings Monday through Saturday and a longer lesson (like this one) on Sunday. Thank you for the continued blessings and support.
